The Free Trade Zone Manufacturers Association (FTZMA) yesterday shared it has agreed on a general wage increase of Rs.3,000 for 2026.
The decision was endorsed by a majority of member firms at a Special General Meeting on October 28, with the association noting that the proposal reflects both the country’s economic realities and challenges weighing on the export industries.
“The consensus was given to the minimum amount of Rs.3000 by the majority, whilst considering the current economic status of the country and challenges being faced by the industries, both locally and globally,” the association informed the members.
The director general of the Board of Investment has also acknowledged the industry’s position, describing the increase as modest and reasonable, given the current conditions.
While Rs.3,000 will serve as the baseline for the coming year, the FTZMA encouraged the companies with stronger capacity to extend a higher increment “at their own discretion and capacity”.
