The ASPI closed in green as a result of price gains in counters such as Ceylinco Holdings, Colombo Dockyard and Singer Sri Lanka with the turnover crossing Rs. 7.7 Bn.
Meanwhile, the S&P SL20 closed in red. High net worth and institutional investor participation was noted in Amana Takaful, John Keells Holdings and Singer Sri Lanka.
Mixed interest was observed in Colombo Dockyard, Digital Mobility Solutions Lanka and Sierra Cables whilst retail interest was noted in Industrial Asphalts, LOLC Finance and Ceylon Tea Brokers. Foreign participation in the market activity remained at subdued levels with foreigners closing as net sellers.
The Capital Goods sector was the top contributor to the market turnover (due to John Keells Holdings and Colombo Dockyard) whilst the sector index edged up by 0.08%. The share price of John Keells Holdings lost Rs. 0.10 (0.48%) to close at Rs. 20.70. The share price of Colombo Dockyard moved up by Rs. 38.50 (12.92%) to close at Rs. 336.50.
Insurance sector was the second highest contributor to the market turnover (due to Amana Takaful) whilst the sector index increased by 1.95%. The share price of Amana Takaful increased by Rs. 2.00 (7.41%) to close at Rs. 29.00. Digital Mobility Solutions Lanka and Singer Sri Lanka were also included amongst the top turnover contributors. The share price of Digital Mobility Solutions Lanka recorded a gain of Rs. 3.50 (2.39%) to close at Rs. 149.75. The share price of Singer Sri Lanka appreciated by Rs. 4.80 (5.32%) to close at Rs. 95.00.
