CIMA Sri Lanka has organised a Mastercourse titled ‘Art of Fraud – Financial Smoke Screens Demystified’ on December 6, at the CIMA auditorium.
It is a timely topic in the current landscape of uncertainty, growth and focus on good governance and ethical ways of working of an organisation. This event will highlight the mindset required to protect the organisation from fraud and in the instance that fraud occurs, how to manage the consequences and will identify the fraud risks and indicators that conditions for fraud exist in the organisation.
The objective of the session is to educate professionals on managing and reporting fraud by challenging complacencies and facilitate the learning of the best practices to combat and report fraud. This Mastercourse will provide professionals with an opportunity to understand the levers that need to be incorporated to formulate a comprehensive risk assessment and thereafter a risk management framework. An anti-fraud policy emphasises the proactive stance taken by the organisation to prevent fraud, with whistle blowing procedures addressing the infrastructure and education required to report suspicious activity. Finally, in order for the organisation to recover damages and limit potential losses, it is important that the documentary evidence required to validate fraud is appropriately reported. The discussion will use case studies on real-life incidences of fraud and investigations. The presentation and discussion is led by Ernst & Young Partner-Assurance Averil Ludowyke. She has over 32 years of experience in audit, consultancy and industry and now leads the Fraud Investigation and Dispute Services. Interested participants are encouraged to contact the CIMA office in Colombo for more information and registration.
