China’s battery and electric vehicle giant BYD hosted a Sri Lankan media delegation during the latter part of last year (2025), providing deeper insights into the technology, eco-friendly value of electric vehicles  and an experience of the charm of cutting-edge innovation.

The tour included visits to BYD Headquarters and Denza 4S showroom in Shenzhen and to ‘Di Space’ New Energy Science Museum, All-Terrain Circuit and one of the key factories in Zhengzhou.

During the tour, the delegation met BYD Asia-Pacific Auto Sales Division General Manager Liu Xueliang and Deputy General Manager Ketsu Zhang, and received briefings on the company’s global strategy and expansion across 117 countries.

A major highlight was the visit to Zhengzhou Di-Space - BYD’s immersive science and technology centre - which is an immersive educational space created by BYD for the public, integrating automotive culture, design, technology, and hands-on experiences. It is also considered the first new energy vehicle (NEV) science museum in China.

The Zhengzhou All-terrain Circuit that integrates vehicle water-crossing, indoor sand dune climbing, off-roading, among others, provided the journalists a distinctive experience where they were able to explore diverse scenarios at one stop.

The level of innovation, meticulous planning and forward-thinking I saw in BYD’s facilities is truly awe-inspiring. BYD is not just leading in technology –it is resetting new benchmarks for the automotive industry across the board.
