Those who had deposited funds in some of the Ceylinco Group of companies, which had crashed, accused the present regime of not doing enough to repay the funds owed by these companies and of failing to bring the group’s Chairman Lalith Kotelawala to book.
“The present regime is in the dark and is clueless,” Independent Association of Depositors’ President C. Caldera told a media conference and pointed out that Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake and Policy Planning Deputy Minister Harsha De Silva had assured that this matter would be sorted out.
He asked why the Government was unable to bring back Mr. Kotelawala’s wife Cycilia to Sri Lanka and take legal action against her. (Yohan Perera and Sanath Desmond)
