Thunder showers and strong winds to prevail

Shower and thunder showers will prevail in a few places in the North, Eastern and Southeastern coastal areas of the country.

There will be winds from a North –Easterly or Northerly direction with a speed of 30-40kmph. The speed will increase up to 50-70kmph in the coastal areas extending from Jaffna to Hambantota via Puttlam and Colombo and up to 50kmph in other areas around the island.

The sea from Jaffna to Hambantota via Puttlam and Colombo will be rough while the rest of the coastal areas and the sea around the island will be fairly rough as well, the Department of Meteorology stated.
