Oct. 6 is a Public and Bank Holiday

October 6 has been declared a Public and Special Bank Holiday in lieu of the Hajj Festival which falls on October 5, the Government Information Department said.

It said according to the Colombo Grand Mosque, it had not received reports from anywhere in the Island of having sighted the Full Moon on September 25 and as such the Hajj Festival had been fixed for October 6.
 
As such October 5 would not be a Public and Bank Holiday. (Chaturanga Pradeep)
