Monks to HRC against cops

A group of monks who were arrested in Fort this week while staging a hunger strike in support of General Sarath Fonseka, lodged a complaint at the Human Rights Commission in Colombo today against the police.

The complaint against IGP Mahinda Balasuriya as well as the Fort and Slave Island police stated that the officers, some in civic clothing, used abuse language and used force to “abduct” the monks who were engaged in the hunger strike.
