Indian fishermen’s remand extended

A group of 56 Tamil Nadu fishermen, who were caught in Sri Lankan waters earlier this month were further remanded till May 6, by the magistrate courts in Mannar and Kayts Island on Friday.

On April 6, the Sri Lankan Navy arrested 30 fishermen from Rameswaram, while they were engaged in allegedly illegal fishing activity in Sri Lankan waters, north of Talaimannar. The case came up for hearing on April 18, and the fishermen’s remand was extended to April 26.
