Deminer killed by mine

A man engaged in de-mining in Muhamalai Jaffna was injured accidentally by a land mine this morning and succumbed to the injuries on admission to the hospital.

The deceased, identified as K. Murugesu from Kilinochchi, was an employee of the Halo Trust, an NGO involved in de-mining operations in Muhamalai, Jaffna Police informed.

The Jaffna Police are conducting further investigations. (Romesh Madushanka)
