Girl shot and injured at Tissamaharama Police Station

A shooting incident took place inside the Tissamaharama Police station today, which resulted in a 19-year–old female being critically injured. The suspect is said to be an army soldier, police spokesman SP Ajith Rohana stated.

The police spokesman stated that the Tissamaharama Police had summoned two parties involved in a complaint and the complainer produced a fire arm and shot the female youth. The girl was critically injured and taken to the Karapitiya Hospital.

The suspect hurled a hand-grenade after opening fire but the grenade had not detonated. He was taken into custody.

Further investigations are being conducted by the Tissamaharama Police with regard to the incident.
