Fake Investigating Officer arrested

A former coordinating Secretary to a politician has been arrested by the Bandaranaike International Air Port Criminal Investigating Department Officers today, believed to have cheated millions of rupees from the people while disguising himself as a Criminal Investigating Officer.

The suspect (aged 57) is a resident of the area.

It was revealed that he has cheated 15 people and charged between Rs. 50,000 to 100,000 saying that he could bail out the persons who were deported from Christmas Island while they tried to migrate to Australia.

Airport Criminal Investigating Officers have taken him into custody following a complaint made by a woman at the Thoduwawa Area. (Deepa Adikari)
