Extortion ring under Police pretense

Police warned the public to be wary of calls which pretend to be from the Police, CID, Terrorist Investigation Department and other such law enforcing bodies, and ask the victims for money.

The police said details of this extortion racket have emerged and initial investigations have revealed that millions of rupees in cash have been collected through these means.

The Police have revealed details of the crime ring engaging in extortion, blackmail and other such nefarious activities. (Supun Dias)
