Exporters: CDN system from Sept. 01

Director General of Sri Lanka Customs had urged exporters and wharf representatives to submit Electronic Cargo Dispatch Notes (CDN) to the Customs from September 1, Customs media spokesman Leslie Gamini said.

“This is mandatory for export consignments. Customs will not accept any manual CDN hereafter,” he said.

“With this system all the export cargo will be centralised,” he said.

The updates could be tracked by email and SMS. If there was dissatisfaction or an error, paper copy may be called for, he said.

“This will help enhance the supply chain management by cutting operation cost and time. This will also reduce the wastage and unnecessary payments,” he said. (Chaturanga Pradeep)
