Computer knowledge is essential: President

In a world surging ahead with the latest technology, our children must acquire adequate knowledge of such, so as to face the challenges of the future, President Mahinda Rajapakse said at the opening of the Samanthurai Al-Asra Skills Lab this morning.

Schools in the Eastern Province are being provided with these study labs to advance the computer knowledge of the students, parallel to the Deyata Kirula Exhibition

If all ethnicities lived in peace and unity, it would help to create a just society, the President said.

This occasion was also attended by Northern Province Governor Mohan Jayawickrama, Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya, Project Minister Nirmala Kothalawa, Parliamentarian Sarath Wijesekera and Eastern Provincial Minister Wimalaweera Dissanayake

Meanwhile the President also visited the Thirukkovil and received blessings in a special Pooja conducted by the Kovil’s Chief Gurukkal N. Angusanadan.
He next visited the Buddangala Arannyasenasa. After participating in religious observances the President had cordial discussions with the Chief Incumbent of the temple Ven. Kalutara Dhammananda Thera and Ven. Uddangala Ananda Thera.
