Missing skulls: Two arrested

The Dehiwala Zoo Chief Veterinary Surgeon and a veterinary section assistant were taken into custody in connection with the three missing skulls that were being preserved in a deep-freezer in the zoo.

The suspects were produced before Mt. Lavinia Chief Magistrate Nirosha Fernando and remanded till June 12. Police said information provided by the veterinary section assistant led to the arrest of the Chief Veterinary Surgeon. During the inquiries police recovered several leopard teeth from the main suspect’s office. Dehiwala police are conducting further inquiries to recover the skulls. (M.S. Perera)
