Youth missing from Galaboda waterfall

Colombo, April 18 (Daily Mirror) - A 20-year-old youth has been reported missing after drowing near the Galaboda waterfall in Nawalapitiya yeasterday.

The missing youth has been indentified as Vijaya Kumar Jackson, a resident of Westhall (Rillagalla) Estate in Nawalapitiya.

According to the police, the youth had visited the waterfall with four freinds, without informing his family. They had entered the area through an unauthorized forest path, avoiding the main entrance.

Police said youth had tried to bathe in an unsafe area near the waterfall and was swept away by the water.

Depsite search efforts by the local residents, the body has not yet been recoverd.

Police said that assistance from Sri Lanka Navy divers has been requested for the ongoing search operation.
