Woman dies after three-wheeler crashes into bus stop in Thambalagamuwa

Colombo, May 29 (Daily Mirror) - A woman has died and three others were injured after a three-wheeler veered off the road and crashed into a bus stop along the Kantale–Trincomalee Road in the Thambalagamuwa Police Division yesterday (28).

Police said the accident occurred near Vaulpalama when the three-wheeler, which was travelling from Kantale towards Trincomalee, reportedly veered off the road after the driver fell asleep.

The vehicle then collided with a bus stop, injuring the driver and three women who were seated in the rear.

All injured persons were admitted to the Thambalagamuwa Hospital, where one of the women succumbed to her injuries.

The deceased was identified as a 70-year-old resident of the Galmatiya area.

Police in the Thambalagamuwa Division are conducting further investigations into the incident.
