Woman arrested with links to Matugama shooting incident

A 39-year-old woman was arrested last night by the police in the Nugegoda area in connection with the shooting incident in Matugama, Police Spokesman SSP Nihal Thalduwa said.

He said the suspect was arrested for having shot at a woman in a house on the Matugama Balika road recently.

He said the police reported that two unidentified gunmen had entered a house in Matugama Balika Road on February 15 and opened fire.

The suspect was a permanent resident of the Matugama area. At the time of arrest, the suspect was living in Nugegoda area temporarily.

Further investigations in connection with the incident and arrest of others who had links to it, are underway by Matugama police crime division, he said. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
