Will Kapila’s legal team be called to testify? - Court to decide on June 2

Colombo, May 29 (Daily Mirror) - Colombo Fort Magistrate Pasan Amarasena ordered that the decision on whether the 19th and 20th witnesses, namely President's Counsel Rienzie Arsekularatne and his junior counsel Udara Muhandiramge, are required to give evidence in relation to the death of Kapila Chandrasena, be delivered on June 2.

The magisterial inquiry into the death of Kapila Chandrasena was taken up today before Colombo Fort Magistrate Pasan Amarasena.

President’s Counsel Rienzie Arsekularatne, who had provided legal advice to Kapila Chandrasena, and his junior counsel Udara Muhandiramge were present in court today following a notice issued by the Colombo Crimes Division to provide evidence for the magisterial inquiry.

At that stage, President of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka Rajeev Amarasuriya and several attorneys-at-law appeared on behalf of the rights of President’s Counsel Rienzie Arsekularatne and counsel Udara Muhandiramge.

President of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka Rajeev Amarasuriya submitted that the Magistrate could consider whether it was necessary to summon the 19th and 20th witnesses, namely President’s Counsel Rienzie Arsekularatne and his junior counsel Udara Muhandiramge, before court to give evidence at the magisterial inquiry.
