Update: Former local council member killed in Meegoda shooting

Colombo, August 12 (Daily Mirror) - Former Homagama Pradeshiya Sabha member Shantha Mudunkotuwa, who was injured in a shooting in Meegoda earlier today, has died after being admitted to the hospital, police said.

According to police, the victim was riding a motorcycle along Attygalle Road when he was shot by unidentified gunmen traveling in a car. He sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was rushed to hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Police have launched an investigation to identify and apprehend the suspects involved in the attack.
