The National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) issued an urgent warning to the public regarding a security breach in its SMS communication system.

According to an official statement, unauthorised messages, some of which may appear threatening or suspicious, have been sent to certain customers via the NWSDB SMS portal.

The NWSDB Head Office IT Division has launched a full-scale investigation and is currently implementing all necessary measures to identify and eliminate the source of the breach.

"We urge all customers not to respond to or act on any instructions received via SMS claiming to be from the NWSDB until further notice," the notice said.

Customers who receive any suspicious or unusual messages are strongly advised to report them immediately to the nearest police station or contact the NWSDB through official channels.

The NWSDB has assured the public that regular updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
