Trains, SLTB buses to operate as usual; no stops at isolated areas

All trains and SLTB buses will resume services from tomorrow but won’t stop at areas declared as isolated areas.

Railway Transport Officer Ranjith Padmalal said the Railways Department had decided to operate trains including morning and evening office trains from tomorrow morning under health recommendations.

The trains will not stop at the stations at isolated areas. Accordingly, trains operating on the main will not stop at Dematagoda sub station, Kelaniya, Wanawasala, Enderamulla, Horape sub station, Ragama, Walpola sub station and Batuwatte sub station.

Trains operating on the Puttalam line will not stop at Peralanda sub station, Ja-Ela, Thudella sub station, Kudahakapola sub station, Kurana, Negombo and Kattuwa while trains operating on the coastal line will not stop at Panadura and Pinwatta substation.

Trains operating on the Kelani Valley railway line will not stop at Baseline substation and Kota-Road substation while trains operating on the Northern railway line will not stop at the Kurunegala railway station.

Mr Padmalal added that all commuters should follow the health guidelines when using train services.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) Chairman Kingsley Ranawaka said all long-distance buses operating from the Colombo Central Bus stand would resume services from tomorrow.

Accordingly, all SLTB buses will operate as usual; but, buses will not be allowed to load and unload passengers in isolated areas. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
