Thousands of patients were highly inconvenienced and affected due to strike action launched by health workers which continues for ninth consecutive day.

"Though discussions held with Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella ended with a satisfactory note with solutions for six out of seven demands being assured, no guarantee was given. The demand with regard to Over Time payment is also yet to be resolved," Academy of Health Professionals President Ravi Kumudesh told Daily Mirror.

Thus, he said they decided to continue the strike action as we are yet to receive a comprehensive response from the Health Ministry.

"However, the executive committee of Health Professionals Federation will be convened at 9.00 am today (15) where a crucial decision is to be taken whether to continue the strike or not," Kumudesh added.

Meanwhile, a large number of health workers were seen marching towards the Presidential Secretariat yesterday urging the Government to address their grievances.

The Government health workers resorted to an indefinite trade union action from 7.00 am on Monday (7) over the government's failure to address their seven grievances. (Sheain Fernandopulle)
