Tax on imported rice increased Rs.15

Tax on all imported rice would be increased from Rs. 35 to Rs. 50 per kilogram with effect from midnight today, the Finance Ministry said.

The decision has been taken as there was an excess stock of rice in the country and also to protect the local farmers.
