Sri Lanka passport rises to 94th in 2026 Henley Index

Colombo, July 22 (Daily Mirror) - Sri Lanka’s passport has improved its position to 94th place in the 2026 Henley Passport Index, recording its highest ranking in recent years.

According to the latest ranking, Sri Lanka moved up from 96th place in both 2025 and 2024. The country’s passport was ranked 107th in 2021, 102nd in 2022, and 100th in 2023.

The Henley Passport Index ranks passports based on the number of destinations their holders can access without obtaining a prior visa.

The Singapore passport retained the top position in the 2026 index, ranking as the world’s most powerful passport. Meanwhile, Afghanistan was placed at the bottom of the ranking at 104th place.

The index covers 199 passports and 227 travel destinations, providing a global comparison of passport strength and international mobility based on visa-free access.
