Sri Lanka closely monitoring developing situation in India, Pakistan: Nalinda

Colombo, May 8 (Daily Mirror) - The Foreign Ministry is closely monitoring the developing situation in India and Pakistan and is constantly updating the government, Cabinet Spokesman Nalinda Jayatissa said today.

He told the weekly brefing to announce Cabinet decisions that Sri Lanka, as the government policy decision, will not involve in geopolitical clashes in the Indian Ocean. 

"The Foreign Ministry is on alert and breifing the government on the  development of the war situation between India and Pakistan. We are acting on a non-aligned policy while protecting our sovereignty. We will never approve or support any form of terrorism. We are ready to support in the effort to combat terrorism at any time," he said.

"What is important is regional security, peace and public security. We will work towards that end. The Foreign Ministry will reveal the government stance on the matter as per the developing situation," he added.
