The Sri Lanka Women’s 4X400m Relay Team won the bronze medal on the third day of the 26th Asian Senior Athletic Championships, which continued in Gumi, South Korea.
The Sri Lanka Women's Relay Team consisting of Nadeeka Ramanayaka, Sayuri Mendis, Jayeshi Uththara and Nishendra Fernando finished third with a time of 3:36.67s.
The gold medal in this event was won by India (3:34.18s) and the silver medal was won by Vietnam (3:34.77s).
However, the Sri Lankan Men’s 4X400m Relay Team had to be content with fifth place with a time of 3:08.55s.
The Sri Lanka Men’s 4X400m Relay Team consisted of Aruna Dharshana, Sadew Rajakaruna, Kalhara Indupa and Kalinga Kumarage.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka's Lesandu Arthavidu, who participated in the Men’s high jump final, finished the event with a jump of 2.10m and came in seventh place. In the Women's 10,000m final, Sri Lanka’s Rasara Wijesuriya secured seventh place with a time of 33:21.62s and established a new national record. The previous record was 33.55.06s held by Hiruni Wijerathna.
