DEC.16 (Mirror Spors) - Sri Lanka have announced a 15-member squad for their upcoming five-match Women’s T20 International series against India, marking an important step in their preparations for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 in England.
Chamari Athapaththu will continue to lead the side, with experienced batter Harshitha Samarawickrama named as her deputy. The series is expected to provide valuable exposure as Sri Lanka fine-tune their combinations against one of the strongest teams in women’s cricket.
One of the notable inclusions is 17-year-old ambidextrous spinner Shashini Gimhani, who returns to the national setup for the first time since August 2024. The selectors have also handed a maiden call-up to Nimesha Madushani, reflecting Sri Lanka’s intent to test young talent ahead of the global tournament.
The squad features a balanced mix of experience and youth, with key players such as Hasini Perera, Vishmi Gunaratne, Harshitha Samarawickrama and Nilakshika De Silva expected to play pivotal roles during the tour.
The five-match T20I series will get underway on December 21 in Visakhapatnam, which will also host the second and third matches. The final two games will be played in Thiruvananthapuram.
