Sri Lanka Tourism announced that dedicated response teams are operating around the clock to assist tourists and industry stakeholders affected by the recent severe weather conditions. Officials said immediate support will be provided to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all visitors.

The agency urged tourists to remain vigilant regarding weather updates and strictly follow government guidelines, noting that several areas continue to experience accessibility issues due to blocked roads and disrupted transport.

To support visitors during this period, the Government of Sri Lanka has introduced several relief measures, including:

  • Free visa extensions for tourists whose visas have expired due to the ongoing situation.
  • Flexible airline support, such as:
  • Full waivers on flight cancellation and date-change fees for affected travellers.
  • Flexible rebooking options to adjust travel dates.
  • A simplified verification process, requiring only a passenger’s declaration of weather-related disruption.

Sri Lanka Tourism also acknowledged the challenges faced by hotels, travel agencies, and other tourism-related businesses due to weather-related disruptions. Relief measures are being coordinated, and the 24-hour assistance hotline remains active to support both tourists and industry partners.

For urgent concerns, visitors and stakeholders are advised to contact the Sri Lanka Tourism hotline: 1912.

Despite weather impacts in some regions, most of the country’s tourism destinations remain unaffected and continue to welcome visitors. Sri Lanka Tourism said it remains committed to ensuring every traveller’s experience is safe, supported, and memorable, and will continue to issue timely updates.
