Sri Lanka Sevens Off to France for Howard Hinton Tournament

May.27 |(Mirror Sports) - Sri Lanka Rugby has named a strong 12-member touring squad for the Howard Hinton Sevens Tournament in France, as the national sevens outfit looks to gain valuable international exposure against top European opposition.

The tournament will feature several competitive club and invitational teams from France and across Europe, with Sri Lanka expected to use the event as part of its preparations for upcoming Asian Sevens competitions and the Asian Games in Japan.

The side will be led by experienced campaigner Srinath Sooriyabandara, while Janidu Dilshan has been appointed vice-captain.

The touring squad includes a blend of youth and experience, with players such as Chathura Widanalage, Akash Madusanka, Kavindu De Costa, Kavindu Perera and Ramitha Himash expected to play key roles.

Ravindu Anjula, Suranga Thennakoon, Diluksha Dange, Gayan Perera and Chemod Muthunayaka also add depth and pace to the lineup.
