Special gazette notification on paddy and rice

An extraordinary gazette notification was issued yesterday stating that all existing rice producers, millers, paddy or rice collectors, store owners, distributors or paddy or rice wholesellers should get registered with the Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) within seven days.

The gazette notification was issued by the CAA Chairman, Maj. Gen. Shantha Dissanayake (Retd.)

Section 10 (1) (b) (ii) of the Consumer Affairs Authority Act No. 09 of 2003 mandated the notification.
