Showers expected in several provinces

Colombo, Feb 27 (Daily Mirror) - Showers may occur at times in the Northern, North-Central, Eastern and Uva Provinces and in the Matale, Nuwara-Eliya and Hambantota districts, the Forecasting Division of the National Meteorological Centre said.

Thundershowers above 75mm can be expected at some places in the Eastern and Uva Provinces and in the Matale, Nuwara-Eliya, Polonnaruwa, Galle, Matara, Kalutara and Ratnapura districts during the afternoon or night.

Fairly strong winds of 30-40 kmph can be expected at times over the Northern, North-Central, Eastern and North-Western Provinces and in the Matale, Nuwara-Eliya and Hambantota districts.

The public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimise damages caused by temporary localised strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
