SC issues order preventing arrest of Karannagoda

The Supreme Court today directed Criminal Investigation Department (CID) not to arrest Former Commander of Navy Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda over abduction case and killing of 11 youths in 2008-2009.

Admiral Karannagoda on February 25, 2019 filed a fundamental rights (FR) petition in the Supreme Court (SC) seeking an interim order preventing him from being arrested in connection with the investigations.

However, Karannagoda is to appear before the CID on March 11 to give a statement.
