Restrict movement within the country during long weekend: GMOA request Govt.

As the First and foremost measure, The Government Medical Officers' Association (GMOA) requested the Government to implement movement restrictions by way of an All-Island "quarantine curfew" to achieve 80% - 90% physical distancing to ensure optimal control of the pandemic during the upcoming long weekend.

While sending a letter to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, the GMOA appreciated the leadership offered by him in mitigating the current COVID pandemic within our country. 

The GMOA also introduced the following key areas that are to be closely evaluated, to ensure a sustainable control of the pandemic, Disease surveillance with properly executed testing strategy, Risk communication using real-time data, Movement restrictions including limitation of Inter-Provincial movements.
