Rajagiriya accident: Patali, two others to be tried in High Court

The case filed against Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Patali Champika Ranawaka and two others regarding a vehicle accident at Rajagiriya and the alleged attempt to cover it up, was taken up for inquiry before the Colombo High Court Judge Damith Totawatte today.

Following the submissions made by Deputy Solicitor General Dileepa Pieris, Judge Damith Totawatte fixed the trial for December 11 and ordered to produce the car involved in the accident in court on that date.

The Court issued summons on five witnesses ordering them to appear before Court on December11 to give evidence for the prosecution.

The Attorney General had indicted Mr. Ranawaka, his driver Thusith Dilum Kumara and ASP Sudath Asmadala for the case regarding the accident at Rajagiriya in 2016.

Counsel Anil Silva PC, Counsel Anuja Premaratna PC and Rajitha Kodituwakku with a team of lawyers appeared on behalf of the suspects.(T. Farook Thajudeen)
