Public invited to name Pinnawala Zoo’s three fishing cat cubs

Colombo, July 22 (Daily Mirror) - As Sri Lanka prepares to celebrate World Cat Day on August 8, Pinnawala Zoo has opened a public naming competition for its three adorable Fishing Cat cubs, inviting animal lovers to suggest creative and meaningful names for the young felines.

The zoo said the best name suggestions will be selected by a judging panel, and the winners will receive special prizes during the World Cat Day celebrations.

Members of the public can submit their ideas through the Google Form shared by Pinnawala Zoo, with entries closing on August 7, 2026.

The zoo has called on families, wildlife enthusiasts and visitors to take part in this special opportunity to become a part of the journey of Sri Lanka’s rare Fishing Cat cubs by helping choose names that match their unique personalities.
