Colombo, March 29 (Daily Mirror) - The Sri Lanka Police has issued a public advisory urging homeowners to remain vigilant and take precautions to prevent burglaries during the prevailing warm weather.

With rising temperatures prompting many residents to leave windows and doors open at night for ventilation, police warned that such practices could create opportunities for criminals.

Police said that safety should not be compromised for comfort.

Homeowners have been advised to ensure that all necessary security measures are in place before going to sleep.

Police outlined several key recommendations to reduce the risk of theft.

These include installing secure metal grills on windows left open for ventilation, ensuring all doors and gates are properly locked, and maintaining adequate outdoor lighting to deter intruders.

Residents have also been urged to remain alert and report any suspicious activity or individuals to nearby police stations without delay.
