The Colombo National Hospital (CNH) today requested people who are visiting patients at the hospital to limit their visits due to the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic situation, CNH Deputy Director Dr Chandana Gajanayake said.
The Director said that some 10,000 people work at the hospital, adding that the possibility of Covid-19 infections to the public is unavoidable. He added that limiting entry to the hospital will help prevent the spread of coronavirus.
"About four hospital employees tested positive for COVID-19 earlier and were sent for treatment. Their close associates were sent for quarantine. There was no evidence was about the spread of the virus among hospital employees. The infected people had contracted the virus from their homes," he said.
Meanwhile, CNH had resumed the process of delivering medicine to the doorsteps of registered patients, Dr. Gajanayake said. He said the correct name, address, clinic number, and telephone number are necessary to administer medication to the patient.
Therefore, patients at the clinic were advised to contact the respective hospital which they are registered with and to verify the above information as soon as possible. Throughout the curfew period, the hospital staff will prepare the medicines needed and deliver them regularly via post. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
