Over 250,000 PCR tests conducted; total recoveries surpass 3,000

Nearly 256,043 Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) tests have been carried out in Sri Lanka while the total Covid-19 recoveries have surpassed 3,000, the Health Promotion Bureau (HPB) said.

According to its statistics, the highest number of PCR tests amounting to 2,909 was carried out on August 11.

Meanwhile, the Epidemiology Unit said the total Covid-19 confirmed cases in Sri Lanka stood at 3,234.

So far, 3,005 patients had recovered and discharged from hospitals leaving behind 217 active coronavirus cases in the country as of today.

There are 56 suspected cases currently under investigation in hospitals. (Sheain Fernandopulle)
