Over 1.1 Mn tourist arrivals in first half of 2025

Colombo, July 2 (Daily Mirror) - The total number of tourist arrivals in the first half of 2025 stands at 1,168,044, the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) reported.

In June alone, 138,241 tourists visited the country, marking a 21.8% increase compared to June 2024.

India continued to lead as the top source market, contributing 37,934 tourists in June, which is 27.4% of the total monthly arrivals. 

Other key contributors included the United Kingdom with 11,628 visitors, China with 8,804, Australia with 7,299 and Pakistan with 6,833.

Cumulative data for the first six months of the year shows India accounting for 241,994 arrivals, followed by Russia with 112,312 and the United Kingdom with 107,902 visitors.
