Over 1,000 suspects arrested in 8-hour special raid in WP

The police yesterday arrested 1,084 suspects during a special crimes prevention operation conducted in the Western Province.

The operation was conducted from 8 a.m to 4 p.m yesterday under the directions of Western Province Senior DIG Deshabandu Thennakoon.

Police said the operation led to the arrest of 556 suspects against whom arrest warrants had been issued.

Also, 352 suspects were arrested in connection with several criminal offences and 32 persons were arrested over various crimes during the raid.
