Officer killed as Prison Bus topples

A Prisons officer attached to the Badulla Prison had been killed after prison bus travelling from Anuradhapura to Badulla tipped over near the Kuda Oya Bridge this evening, the Police said.

The bus transporting a prisoner to Anuradhapura Prison met with tragic accident on its way back to Badulla Prison.

The Police said that the driver has lost control near the Kuda oya Birdge in Dehiattakandiya on the Anuradhapura-Badulla Road.

The victim, Tilak Ignation (34) was a Jailor attached to the Badulla Prison
He was a resident of Nuge Junction, Badulla.

The postmortem is to be conduct at the Dehiattakandiya Hospital.
The driver had been taken into Police custody and the Dehiattakandiya Police are conducting investigations. (Thilanka Kanakarathna)
