Nuwara Eliya April festival commences

Colombo, April 1 (Daily Mirror) - The Nuwara Eliya April Festival, organized by the Nuwara Eliya Municipal Council, commenced today with Central Province Chief Secretary G.H.M. Ajith Premasinghe as the chief guest.
The inaugural ceremony was held in front of the public market in Nuwara Eliya town and featured cultural performances and school band displays organized by state and private sector institutions.

Municipal Commissioner Wijekoon Bandara stated that the festival, which began yesterday, will continue till April 30. The event lineup includes fanfares, musical shows, horse races, motor races, flower exhibitions, and various cultural performances organized by the Municipal Council.

A senior police official confirmed that special security arrangements and a traffic plan are in place to ensure the safety of both local and foreign tourists visiting Nuwara Eliya during the festival.
Secretary to the Governor Manjula Madahapola, District Secretary Thushari Thennakoon, and several senior officials and representatives from private sector institutions were present at the occasion.
