He told the weekly briefing to announce Cabinet decisions that even if any issue with regard to funds arises, funds could be approved through a supplementary estimate.
Responding to a question regarding a statment made by JVP General Secretary Tilvin Silva that funds allocated for the PC elections were diverted for Ditwah releif, the Minister said there is no shortage of funds, adding that Tilvin Silva must have meant something else.
"The government's target is to hold the PC polls as soon as possible. The NPP government conducted three elections within eight months. There is no issue of funds. We can approve funds even through a supplementary estimate if needed. The issue is the legal barriers. If Parliament can resolve the legal barriers, we can hold the polls," he said.
