No plans to postpone Presidential election: Nimal Lanza

Colombo, May 28 - Government MP Nimal Lanza said the Presidential election will be held on schedule this year and there are no plans to postpone it.

Issuing a statement, he said President Ranil Wickremesinghe had expressed his intention to hold the election on time.

The presidential election is due this yera in terms of the Constitution.

Lanza made this statement in the wake of UNP General Secretary Palitha Range Bandara calling for the postponement of the election and the extension of Parliament by two years with the approval of the people through a referendum.
