Neluwa - Lankagama Road project: No harm caused to environment: Ministry

Referring to false social media reports regarding the Neluwa - Lankagama Road project implemented by the Ministry of Highways, the ministry said no development work would be carried in the area of 1.1km, which is environmentally sensitive.

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has instructed Wildlife Minister not to carry out the project in a way that harms the environment.  

The project was launched as per a request made by the residents of the area to develop the rural road which is about 18 km long.

Arrangements have already been made to develop the Neluwa - Lankagama road project.
