Nearly 20,000 Dengue cases reported this year

Colombo, May 14 (Daily Mirror) - The National Dengue Control Center (NDCC) has reported a total of 19,901 dengue cases across the country so far this year.

Director of the NDCC, Dr. Sudath Samaraweera stated that 2,355 cases have been reported in recent weeks alone. 

He noted that the Western Province accounts for the highest number of infections, recording nearly 48 percent of the total dengue cases.

In addition to the surge in dengue cases, Dr. Samaraweera warned that the number of  Chikungunya patients has also seen a rise during this period.
