Colombo, May 22 (Daily Mirror) - Nearly one hundred thousand vehicle number plates printed during 2023 and 2024, but not yet collected by vehicle owners, are currently piled up within its premises, the Department of Motor Transport (DMT) announced.
They said that a large stock of unclaimed number plates has been accumulated at its head office in Narahenpita, as well as at district offices across the country, including in the Colombo District.
Accordingly, the Department has urged all vehicle owners who applied for number plates during 2023 and 2024 and have not yet received them to collect their plates before June 30, 2026. Owners in other districts are advised to obtain them from the relevant District Secretariats or Motor Transport Department branch offices.
