Moves to upgrade Suwaseriya to prevent in-transit deaths: Dr Seetha Arambepola

Steps were being taken to upgrade the Suwaseriya ambulance service with advanced facilities to prevent in-transit deaths, State Minister of Health Seetha Arambepola said today.

She told Parliament that Suwaseriya at present facilitates the transport of critical patients to hospitals with first aid.

Speaking during the Committee stage debate of the Health Ministry, she said in developed countries ambulance services were highly advanced where patients with heart or respiratory failure are treated in-transit to save their lives.

The Minister said several countries have offered to provide sophisticated ambulances with advanced facilities to cater to these needs.(Ajith Siriwardana and Yohan Perera)
